Toronto: Patrick Redford lecture

From the Browser's Den of Magic newsletter:
SATURDAY, July 27

Patrick Redford (aka George Tait) is known throughout the magic community for his exceptional creations in both mentalism and magic. He has a huge assortment of miracles that he will be performing and explaining!

His 2016 book 'Applesauce' containing a slew of different impromptu impossible effects has nearly sold an incredible 10,000 units worldwide!  A number rarely reached in the magic world marketplace.

Patrick's work on the Memorized deck took the world by storm a couple of years later with the release of 'Temporarily Out of Order'. His stack "The Redford Stack" forever changed how people think about the potential of the stacked and memorized deck.

Toronto: Nathan Coe Marsh lecture

From Eventbrite:
Tue, 23 July 2019

Over the course of a career that has included television, corporate events, cruise ships, casinos, trade shows, and comedy clubs, Nathan Coe Marsh has wowed audiences in 13 different countries with incredible original magic. And now, for the first time, he's going to share that magic with you.

Every item in Nathan's lecture has been featured by him in real world, professional performance - and he'll teach you everything you need to know so you can perform them too. The first half focuses on stand-up magic (with an emphasis on strong stand-up magic that 1. does not require on-stage assistants and 2. packs small and plays big). The second half focuses on close-up magic.

Part I: Stand-Up Magic
• A Spirited Opener
The startling visible vanish of a silk followed immediately by the production of a full shotglass. This is a 1-2 punch that, in under 90 seconds, grabs the complete focus of an audience while also setting the atmosphere of fun for everything that follows.
• Nathan’s Chop Cup
Nathan’s stand-up chop cup routine that incorporates a Michael Kaminskas touch (with permission) in a new way to dramatically increase the impact of the final loads.
• Bare-Handed
Any card called for is caught out of mid-air. The spectacle of a card sword without the cost, and Nathan’s new technique for controlling a named card from a memorized deck has many applications for both close-up and stand up (for non-memdeck users, this revelation is also powerful with a chosen card).
• Balloons
Stage-filling, astonishing, comedy mentalism that packs small and involves no on-stage volunteers.

Part II: Close-Up Magic
• Smart Coins
Featuring a charming, motivated, topical, and original presentation that steers clear of what Eugene Burger termed “the adventures of the props in the magician’s hands” script that is typical of coins across, Nathan’s version blends brilliant work from Roger Klause, Larry Jennings, and Mike Pisciotta to create a strong routine that gets gasps.
• Card Divination
Inspired by a single sentence in Juan Tamariz’ Mnemonica, this is the card routine Nathan has performed every single time he has done close-up magic professionally since 2004

Seating is extremely limited to this special lecture and seating arrangements are made based on the order in which your tickets are purchased - so act fast to save your spot!

-THIS EVENT IS INTENDED FOR MAGICIANS AND ASPIRING MAGICIANS WITH AT LEAST A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF MAGIC'S SECRETS.

Toronto: Marcus Eddie lecture

From the Browser's Den of Magic:
Wednesday June 26th

We are very excited to offer you another opportunity to learn from a fantastic professional. Marcus Eddie will be here at Browser's Den to share his love of magic on Wednesday, June 26 at 7pm.

Here's a little bit about Marcus:
Growing up overseas as part of an Air Force family, Marcus did not have access to magic shops or clubs. Using a magic set he received as a gift from his parents and the few magic books he could find in the school library, Marcus began teaching himself the craft when he was just 12 years old. Building his illusions from toy boxes, tape and everyday items, Marcus took his childhood passion and turned it into his career.

Today, he is an 8-time award-winning magician, including his win on the Syfy Channel’s magic competition, “Wizard Wars.”marcuseddie

He has appeared on “Penn & Teller Fool Us,” and is the creator of a large catalog of acclaimed, commercially released creations. Marcus also works as a consultant for magicians worldwide, including David Blaine on his television special, “Beyond Magic.”

Marcus Eddie's original magic will leave you stunned, and his lecture will leave you inspired.

We had the pleasure of hosting Marcus a couple years ago and his lecture was fantastic, and we know he's going to bring the goods again! His effects are off-beat and his methods are devious!

We look forward to you joining us on the 26th for what will be another fantastic lecture!

Toronto: Mystery & Magic featuring Beyond Mental Borders

From the May 22 article "Toronto is getting a Las Vegas style magic show series" by Tanya Mok in BlogTO:
One of Toronto's most popular mind-reading duos, Beyond Mental Borders, is launching a new stage show called Connection on June 16 at the Rec Room.

According to the mentalist pair, Melissa Ronson and Armand Antony, it'll be an extravaganza of divination, accompanied by some of the best magicians across the country.

The pair have previously wowed audiences on CityTV, at Second City, and other venues in the city with their ability to do stuff like guess what number or place you're thinking of, down to the tiniest detail.

It's still a mystery what exactly the show will incorporate, but according to the team, it'll be a "Las Vegas-style magic show that is currently lacking in the city of Toronto."

Toronto: Eric Jones lecture

I first had the pleasure of meeting Eric in 2011 at Sorcerers Safari.  His lecture is sure to inform and entertain!

From the Browser's Den of Magic:
Sunday May 26, 2019

We are very excited to offer you another premiere sleight of hand artist. The one and only Eric Jones will be here to share his love for magic and methods on Sunday, May 26 at 5:30pm.

Eric Jones is excited to share a combination of new ideas and some of his most popular, real world effects. Concentrating on hard hitting, visual effects, there will be something for everyone. Be sure to bring a few coins, a deck of cards and a pen and follow along as Eric leaves no stone unturned. Eric will explain all the nuances that make his magic both memorable and impactful and teach you how to do the same. You'll learn that The Devil Is In The Details.

He'll cover...

The Power Of the Pen - A killer production of a pen that you will use!

New Era - A perfect impromptu effect with a borrowed hat and a coin that can be done completely surrounded .  A real worker!

Hellhound Remix - A killer, hyper visual version of Chris Kenner's Hellhound Spellbound that will take your coin magic into a new hemisphere.

Audio  - A stand up routine that is a true homage to Nate Leipzig.  Four coins travel to the pocket one at a time. You will hear the coins as they arrive in the pocket.  NO Extra Coins, NO gimmicks.  Make sure you're wearing pants for this one!

Kabal - A streamlined version of the Collectors plot that is designed to be performed surrounded and under close scrutiny with method that will fool your audiences and with an explanation that will make magicians smile.

And more!!

We look forward to you joining us on the 26th for what will be another fantastic lecture!
