Brockville: Outerbridge Clockwork Mysteries

On Saturday, May 2, Canada’s top illusionist Ted Outerbridge along with his talented wife Marion will bring an amazing magic and levitation show, Outerbridge Clockwork Mysteries, to the Brockville Arts Centre.

During a brief visit to the city last week, Ted took to his signature levitation act with Marion three feet off the ground at Blockhouse Island, in front of a passing freighter, John B. Aird.

Canadians on the IBM convention schedule for 2015

Updated at 5pm to add:

- I was just reminded that this considered to be outgoing President Shawn Farquhar's convention so it would be awesome to have a strong Canadian contingent to show our support.
- Michael Dardant, from New Orleans who won the CAMaraderie close up competition at our last convention will also be there.

Ted and Marion Outerbridge in the Nanaimo Daily News

Ted Outerbridge's love of illusions started at the age of seven when the neighbourhood magician Magic Tom freaked him out by pulling an egg out of his ear.

The same magician had a TV show out of Montreal, and Outerbridge also has a specific memory of watching him perform a trick with hankerchiefs that blew his mind.

"I still remember it today, how I was so amazed, and I was very determined to be able to deliver that same experience of wonder," he said.

It became an obsessive focus as Outerbridge studied magic books and then got a job at the local magic store.

"The owner of the store, Richard Olsen, he taught me all kinds of things and I learned so much," he said. "All the big magicians coming through town would drop into the store and I got to meet them. That was really huge for me."

There's magic at the CNE again this year!

At The Farm, Daniel Steep's is back with , Agri-Magic, an interactive magic show that educates audiences about Canadian Farming.

Majinx is back at Kids' World with Professor Wick's School of Magic and Illusion.

And Ted Outerbridge is at the Variety Stage; just west of Food Building.

This year the Ex runs from August 17th to September 3rd, 2012.  Please check the CNE's website for dates and showtimes.

According to the Patty Obey newsletter, Marion Outerbridge is one of two winners of "The Celebration of ME" Dance Scholarship Fund who will attend the Jazz Dance World Congress in Pittsburgh, PA July 31-Aug 5!
