[Guest post] Cabaretbijou Comes To Vancouver October 2022 to March 2023

The following is a guest post from an author who wishes to be known as The Magic Demon.

--

Cabaretbijou Comes To Vancouver October 2022 to March 2023

Their poster says it all.

"Immerse yourself in the wildly extravagant world of Cabaret Bijou.

"An intoxicating fusion of cabaret, comedy, and cuisine with world class Aerial Artists, Contortionists, Jugglers, Musicians, etc etc.

"It's Canada's only Gourmet Cabaret Sensation."

Vancouver Oct 28th 2022 to March 5th 2023.

Under the big (heated) tent in Vanier Park.

Magic too is promised so what's not to like? Food and cabaret in a high class circus-like environment sounds pretty much like ideal entertainment to me.

The 89th Annual Pacific Coast Association of Magicians will be holding its convention in Mission from Nov. 10 to 13.

The conference covers the entire Pacific coast, along with countries including Canada, U.S., Australia, Japan and thousands of members across the Pacific Rim.

The conference is organized by two prolific kids entertainers, as Norden the Magician and the Great Gordini, who combined have over 40 international awards for their acts and contributions to the magic community.

Norden wanted to bring the conference to his home town of Mission this year and put in a bid to the committee.

“I’m very excited about this event,” said Mike Norden.

A comedy show will kick off the event on Nov 10, starring YouTube comedian Wes Barker. This show will take place in the ballroom at the Best Western.

Then on Nov 12 is the big show, called Hocus Pocus, at the Clarke Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Starring international magic celebrities that have appeared on Penn & Teller Fool Us, Ellen, Comedy Central, Big Trick Energy and more.

Three-panel storyboard honouring the life of Stewart James

From the October 18th article "Courtright’s ‘Einstein of Magicians’ honoured with waterfront storyboard" by Carl Hnatyshyn in Sarnia & Lamton County This Week:

One of Courtright’s most renowned yet reclusive residents was honoured Oct. 15 by Heritage St. Clair, whose members unveiled a three-panel storyboard outlining Stewart James’ remarkable, magical legacy.

Known by his peers as the ‘Einstein of Magicians’ – James was venerated with the unveiling of an informative monument along the St. Clair River Trail in Courtright Waterfront Park.

James – who was born in Courtright in 1908 and lived there until his death in 1996 – was one of the most prolific producers of magic tricks in history. He was an illusionist extraordinaire and inventor of over 1,000 unique tricks, all created with the use of mathematical and scientific principles.

James’ book on magic, published in 1989 by long-time friend Allan Slaight, is still the largest book of magic tricks ever printed.
