Toronto: Magic at the Exhibition

This year's CNE is showcasing two young Canadian magicians and The Family Majinx.

At The Farm is Daniel Steep's show, Agri-Kidabra, an interactive magic show that educates audiences about Canadian Farming.

In the Busker's Corner you can catch magician Sheldon Casavant, who also wrote the illustrated children's book, "Morton the Magician and His Magnificent Magic Show."

And at Kids' World you can see Majinx perform and also participate in Professor Wick's School of Magic and Illusion.

This year the Ex runs from August 19th to September 5th 2011.  Please check the CNE's website for dates and showtimes.

Sheldon Casavant: updated tour schedule

Sheldon Casavant, Alberta magician and author of the illustrated children's book, "Morton the Magician and His Magnificent Magic Show" has updated his tour schedule.

According to the schedule, there he's doing a number of public shows in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.  Catch him if you can!

Sherwood Park News: Author shortlisted for Alberta literary award

From the Sherwood Park News:
... Sheldon Casavant's first book, Morton the Magician and His Magnificent Magic Show, has been shortlisted for the Alberta Literary Awards.
"It's been great just to have that feeling that it's at that level of professionalism and respect within the industry, because I'm coming at it as being a magician as a profession," Casavant said.

Edmonton: Sheldon Casavant speaking at LogiCON

LogiCON is a daylong event bringing members of the scientific and skeptic communities together with the general public to celebrate logic, critical thinking and the scientific method. LogiCON is for everyone: there will be talks from a variety of speakers for both the longtime science enthusiast and the curious beginner alike.

Shrine Fantasy Show

It's late in the game, but if you can, try to catch the Shrine Fantasy Show.  From their website:
Proceeds from this show benefit many Shrine activities. For your support you are provided with a great evening of entertainment (and therefore it is not eligible as a charitable donation deduction.) Thanks for helping the children!
Participating talent includes:  Dick Joiner, Craig Douglas, Sheldon Casavant, Magic Mike Segal, Majinx, Aristov and Company, Greg Tarlin, John Park, Steven Kline, Patrice Meunier, French Connection and Mysteract (performers vary by province).
