Review: Chris Westfall's "Porcelain Princess tour"

Chris Westfall brought his Porcelain Princess tour to Whitecourt last night, at the St. Joseph Community Hall. He definitely delivered! Between over-the-head discreet adult jokes, a flashy & fun persona for the kids to enjoy, diverse stage props, to the actual illusion & fun of a magic show, this was a great night. Chris had 2 personas on-stage. One was a mad scientist trying to capture & outwit a beautiful onstage dancer/magic assistant, to the actual Chris Westfall who left children & adults alike in awe.

[Guest post] Vancouver: Heart of the City Festival

There's magic at the upcoming 12th annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival (Oct 28-Nov 8) in Vancouver, BC.

The witty Merlin the Magician will "offer hilarious comedy and amazing magic" at the Ray-Cam Cooperative Centre, 920 East Hastings on Friday, October 30th between 4:15pm and 5pm.

This is a free show designed especially for young audiences and families.

According to the festival's program guide, "A magician of many year's standing, Merlin brings fun and fantasy, comedy and delight to his magic".

Also at this year's festival, Downtown Eastside regular Swallow Zhou will "twist wonderful balloon creations" as a special treat new this year at the festival.

Swallow will twice bring her "joyful enthusiasm" and awesome balloon creations to the festival on Friday, October 30th. First, at 3:30pm at the Ray-Cam Cooperative Centre (920 East Hastings) and then at 4:30pm at the EWMA Studios, 800 East Hastings.

Mike D'Urzo in Durham Region

Award-winning Mike D’Urzo’s Mega Magic is coming to the St. Francis Centre on Saturday, Oct. 24 and D’Urzo says he has a few tricks up his sleeve.

“My big thing is putting a twist on the classics of magic,” says D’Urzo. “A lot of my stuff has the wow factor.”

The Vaughan native performs hundreds of shows annually and recently won the Canadian Entertainer of the Year Award at the Canadian Special Events Industry Awards.

D’Urzo is well known for his mentalist skills and he says his show Mind Kontrol will be interactive and involve the Ajax audience.

He says to expect a good variety of magic mentalism, flying tables and the odd disappearing act.
