Initiated by the Slaight Family Foundation to honour Canadian media mogul and philanthropist Allan Slaight, and his lifelong passion for and contribution to magic, Magicana will distribute, on behalf of the Slaight Family Foundation $250,000 over five years - $50,000 per year - to recognize excellence in magic.

Magician David Jans has had an incredible year, from playing live on CTV Ottawa Morning Live television program, to performing at Pommier Jewelers 80th anniversary party, plus many sold out rooms including NYE at La Maison Tavern. He also performed street magic in downtown Montreal at the Canada Grand Prix, as well as in downtown Cornwall for Food Fest. He was also featured in Cornwall Living Magazine. Furthermore, as an actor he played an extra on the Jean Beliveau biography mini series that aired on the French History Channel. Way to go David!

The fourth Philosophy Now Festival will take place all day on 20 January 2018.
As in previous years, the Festival will include talks, debates, workshops, and philosophical games for the whole family. There is no need to book for the Festival or for most of the individual events within it. However, you do need to book in order to attend one of the children’s philosophy workshops, as spaces are limited.
