Vancouver: Jack Chow Giant Panda Habitat in CTV News

Tickets at GiantPandaHabitat.com

From the December 11th article "Famously narrow Vancouver building becomes habitat for animatronic giant pandas" by Lisa Steacy at CTV News:

Chow said he was inspired, in large part, by his father who he describes as a visionary and champion for Chinatown. The giant panda installation is something he hopes will continue his father's legacy of putting the neighbourhood on the map and drawing people to visit.

"Now there's another reason for people to come down to Chinatown to see something totally different. We've got giant pandas in Vancouver now!"

The question Chow says he gets most often is about how the pandas – which are taller than the building is wide – got inside. Chow, who is also a magician, declines to reveal that secret.

"We'll leave that a puzzle for people who come to visit," he said.

From the August 28th upload "Jack Chow Giant Panda Habitat" at The Creative Solution YouTube channel:

Nestled inside the skinniest building in the world, this one-of-a-kind space has earned a Guinness World Record for its incredible feat of design. Step into this slender wonder and explore how we’ve crafted a lush, vibrant world for our pandas, all within the walls of this architectural marvel. It’s proof that big things really can come in small packages!

Lon Mandrake: Inspirational Canadian Magician.

Lon Mandrake has been a leader in the magic community as the former Regional Vice-President for Canada of the Society of American Magicians. Under this leadership, the Society expanded its membership and Assemblies. While some may think he had to live in the shadow of his famous parents - Leon (and Velvet) Mandrake the Magician, Lon carved his own path. A now retired educator, an award-winning science teacher and past President of the British Columbia Science Teachers’ Association. Lon is internationally recognized for his mentalism and magic but he is most appreciated as a generous and supportive colleague.

CanadasMagic.com is proud to present the 2024 Inspirational Canadian Magician Showcase.

Next up in this year's Inspirational Canadian Magician Showcase, is Steve Valentine!

For Steve's work at MagicOnTheGo. Really inspiring to see someone put up 900+ videos of magic instruction. Deep dives into the work from a real working pro is very rare to get access to. A lot of the material is also obscure and people may not even have known it existed, which aids in cataloguing material that may otherwise have been lost to history.

From the Sid Lorraine Hat & Rabbit club (Ring 17) website:

The show will be on Wednesday, December 18th, 7:30 pm. We've secured the Moonlight Lounge in Kensington market (easily accessible by TTC with Green P nearby.) The room seats about 100 people so we are looking for material appropriate for that size of audience. There is a stage, with limited space to preset props off to the side. We will have the ability to play music but not the ability to do any video projection or any other multimedia. Performances should be 5-10 minutes in length and suitable for audiences age 12 and up. Holiday themed material is welcome, as is material involving non perishable food items. We will need to know what you plan on performing ahead of time so that we can put together a show that is balanced without repetition.

Chanelle’s work with the Indigenous community in Canada is inspiring as she  brings magic to remote communities and inspires young people with her performances and message of hope. She has gone where no other Canadian magician has gone before, and deserves to be recognized for her inspirational use of magic.

Chanelle appeared on September 2024 cover of VANISH Magic Magazine. Her full story is there. It’s remarkable.

I am inspired by Sean Watson and Chanelle Munroe for their ability to captivate audiences across North America with their unique style of magic. I’ve had the privilege of seeing them perform at an elementary school, where their show left both students and staff in awe. With a recent rebranding, they have successfully toured festivals, community events, and elementary schools throughout Canada and the USA, continuing to amaze and inspire audiences of all ages.

David Ben and Mahdi Gilbert at MagiFest 2025

From Vanishing Inc:

David Ben

Our Guest Of Honour this year is none other than David Ben. We admire his philanthropic work with the charity he founded, Magicana, which helps disadvantaged children and isolated seniors. As a historian, David has written the definitive biography on Dai Vernon and conducted research critical to the history of magic. As a performer, David has an illustrious career of award-winning, genre-bending shows. He was most recently awarded The Order of Canada, Canada’s highest civilian honour. We are truly thrilled to welcome David Ben to our stage.

Mahdi Gilbert

Canada’s Mahdi Gilbert has travelled the world with his completely unique approach to magic. Born without hands or feet, Mahdi has created his own moves, sleights and inspirational approach to magic. He’ll be sharing that with us all. He will prove this time, as he did last time he performed on our stage, that nothing is impossible.
