successor having passed the “Mantle of Escapes” on to Dean. He also shares
with us some horror stories when he broke bones, lost a finger, and more.
This is an unusual profession and few in the world specialize solely in this
art. He does not consider himself a magician, nor does he perform magic at
his appearances.

His many collections included playing cards—also the focus of his magic specialty—dice, magic lanterns, music boxes, puzzle jugs, pop-up books, and Victorian ephemera. He was a founding member and secretary of the Society of Canadian Magicians in Toronto. In 1947, he joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring 17, as member number 100, and was later awarded a lifetime membership. He contributed to more than a dozen magic magazines and co-authored or contributed to several books on the subject.
For over a decade, Felice Ling has popped up on streets around the world. This occasionally international street performer has been seen at Faneuil Hall, Harvard Square, and fringe festivals from Edinburgh to Adelaide. She was a finalist at the Inaugural FISM World Championship of Street Magic in 2025.

Every company member maintained
hyper-focus during performances. The cast and stagehands, for obvious
reasons. Technicians made real-time updates to the video based on volunteer
input. In addition to being responsible for the atmosphere of the show,
Sound, Lighting, and Automation, were also integral to making the magic
happen. Losing focus is not an option. Twice I observed the crews’
hypervigilance come to the rescue.
Champions Of Magic now runs through September 2 — but that's it! There just
isn't enough confetti left in the Midwest for the show to run any longer than
that.
Following a successful series of sold-out performances earlier this year, Massey Hall is set to welcome back "The Art of Magic" for a one-night engagement at TD Music Hall this fall, underscoring continued demand for immersive, live entertainment experiences in Toronto’s cultural sector.
Strong Return After Sold-Out Performances The show, which previously completed four sold-out performances at Allied Music Centre Theatre, will take the stage again on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at TD Music Hall, located at 178 Victoria Street. The return engagement reflects both the popularity of the production and Massey Hall’s commitment to curating diverse live programming in one of Canada’s premier entertainment venues.
