Remembering Marvyn Roy, "Mr. Electric"

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Marvyn Roy on July 1st.


Magicana has some footage of Marvyn Roy in their Screening Room.

• Marvyn Roy performs magic with lightbulbs on The Magic Palace.
• On this appearance on The Magic Palace, Marvyn Roy re-imagines classics including the Miser's Dream, the Egg Bag and Zombie, using lightbulbs. 
• This performance of Mr. Electric's lightbulbs from mouth was recorded by Larry Thornton in Calgary, Alberta.

Big news from The Browser's Den of Magic

From July 1st post at The Browser's Den of Magic Facebook page:

And we are HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE that... Beginning Friday, July 3rd Browser's Den of Magic will be back to normal hours without an appointment needed! 

However...yes, however...everyone must wear a mask to enter the shop. No more than three (3) people will be permitted in the shop at any one time. And social distancing must be respected. Hand Sanitizers will be found in the front foyer and throughout the shop. 

We look forward to seeing you...again! 

Our Shop Hours Are:
Mondays- Closed
Tuesday through Friday 10am to 6:30pm
Saturday 10am to 5:30pm
Sunday 12noon to 5:00pm

Every day this week, we will announce a recipient for each category of the Allan Slaight Awards on behalf of the Slaight Family Foundation.

We are delighted start by naming this year’s 2020 Canadian Rising Star—make that Stars.

This award acknowledges outstanding work by an emerging Canadian magician and it comes with a prize of $5,000 from the Slaight Family Foundation, and it also includes an engraved iPad to commemorate the occasion. Past recipients of this award include Mahdi Gilbert, Luc Langevin, Eric Leclerc, Nick Wallace and Carisa Hendrix.
