ICYMI: Proceeds from The Fog Machine of War

Updated January 3rd to add to the bottom of this post:

This news is almost a year old, but it is happy and uplifting and a reminder that we can make a difference in the lives of others.

You may remember that in 2023, Matt DiSero published The Fog Machine of War.  The proceeds from this book were sent to a magic school in Bolivia.

Last year, Matt shared a post showing how the donation benefited the children.

From the January 31, 2024 Facebook post by Matt DiSero:

I wrote a book that many of you purchased, all the proceeds from which, in part helped kids who love magic get a scholarship to a magic school in Bolivia. Behold below the fruits of your generosity. Your reward is the look on these kids faces, watching them do what they're interested in and love. Didn't even take much huh? Pretty cool what can happen, with the power of community. A reminder perhaps of we can do if we work together, everyone helping a little bit.  Its like what Wilton Knight told Micheal in the first episode of Knight Rider "One person can make a difference". Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. Well done, all of you, and thanks. Lets see what else we can do down the road...

Well done Matt!

Let's all aim to do some good in 2025!

From the November 22nd Facebook post by Matt DiSero:

Wow!! Just got this on the mail from Bolivia ! THANK YOU Mago Byron !! It’ll be on the wall in my office forever.

“for his invaluable contribution to the growth of magic in Bolivia “ ( I had to use google translate, my Spanish is weak )

UNO Reverse: Eric Leclerc interviews Jonah Babins on Discourse in Magic

Listen to the December 12th podcast "UNO REVERSE: Jonah Babins gets interviewed by Eric Leclerc" at Discourse in Magic.

From the December 29th Instagram post by Discourse in Magic:

I did an UNO REVERSE episode with @magic4yourbrain where he interviewed me. And it’s shaping up to be the most popular episode of the year.

We talked about performing, coaching, what magician need, podcast highlights, and he even pre interviewed my parents to learn about my upbringing and how this all came to be.

Probably the most popular episode of the year. Link in bio to hear it!

ICYMI: David Merry -- Best First Time Director of Best Comedy

You may remember that in 2023, David Merry released his first feature length film, Switched at Death.

We are delighted to (belatedly) share the news that David was presented the Best First Time Director (Feature) Award at the Los Angeles Film Awards back in January. Additionally, Switched at Death won Best Comedy!  (It's worth noting that the film's Director of Photography is the talented Jason d'Souza, who some of you may know from his Noodle Boys days.)

Congratulations David et al!
