Come Join us January 24th from NOON - 4pm. Bring a trick you have been working on or need more help with and we can work together to work out the kinks.

At 3:00PM Owner/Magician Brent Smith will give a 30 Minute lecture on Thumb tips and How to use them correctly and then Immediately after he will perform a 30 Magic show for everyone to enjoy and maybe find some special guests to Join us

If you want to come tickets are $20.00 for the day and you must call to reserve a seat as we have limited space in my shop.

Pop, water and Doughnuts will be supplied as well as a GREAT Door Prize

Calgary Magic Circle’s 2015 – 2016 Executive

At the Calgary Magic Circle’s 2015 Annual General Meeting on June 18, 2015, the Calgary Magic Circle nominated the Executive team for the coming year.

• President: Dan Stephenson (re-elected)

• Vice President: Ryan Pilling

• Treasurer: Yeats Wong (re-elected)

• Secretary: Rob Vanden Heuvel

• Sargent at Arms: Chris Hogan

• Member at Large: Malcolm Russell

We welcome Chris Hogan, who is on Executive for the first time.  All other members have held Executive positions in the past.

As well as the elected positions, Rob Vanden Heuvel has also volunteered to be our Lecture Coordinator again, and help us make our professional lecture series run, and Charles Silbernagel and Ryan Pilling are volunteering their time to run the Junior Magic Club for the coming year.

Darcy Oake's Canadian tour

From the CBC:

Darcy Oake, a Winnipeg illusionist who shot to fame overseas last year, will visit his hometown as part of a Canadian tour later this year.

The 27-year-old son of Hockey Night in Canada broadcaster Scott Oake wowed judges and audiences on Britain's Got Talent in the spring of 2014, despite coming in fifth place.

Since the show aired, Darcy Oake has performed around the world, starred in a television special in the United Kingdom and released a book about classic illusions.

Oake's Winnipeg show will be the last stop on the Canadian leg of his Edge of Reality world tour. The Canadian dates are:

WowFest is back!

Ryan Pilling is bringing WowFest back on February 21st and February 28th.

From WowFest:

WowFest Magic Arts Festival first appeared in Calgary in February of 2013 with a day full of amazing fun magic shows set in the community of Westgate. The festival was launched with the support of the “Cultural Capital of Canada” arts funding from the Calgary 2012 program.

With a successful, sold-out day full of shows, and positive audience feedback, the festival was set to become a recurring event.
